Every child needs a pair of jeans in their wardrobe. Yet it's not always easy to know where to find jeans which are on trend and budget friendly. Your hunt is over! Here are the best places for kids jeans - without breaking the bank. All of these stores have sizes ranging from toddlers all the way up to middle or high school.

The Children's Place

The Children's Place is the number one place I like for children's jeans. Why? Because they have a range of denim wash choices, a range of styles (skinny, straight, bootcut, etc) and they have an inner elastic waistband to ensure the perfect fit.

On top of that, I also love that they offer extended sizing once you get past the toddler sizes, meaning that in addition to all the regular sizes they also offer slim/slender and husky/plus sizing. You can get still jeans for toddlers at The Children's Place, they're just in regular sizing.

Furthermore, pricing is so nice and low for jeans at The Children's Place! There is almost always a special running, meaning that most of the time you can snag these jeans for well under $20. This is similar to store brand pricing at the big-box discount stores, but with the on-trend styling of The Children's Place which you won't get at big-box stores.

Old Navy

Next on my list is Old Navy. It does a great job of following trends, so you can be assured their styles will have your kid looking good.

In addition, they have many of the same great features as The Children's Place have in their jeans. Old Navy has different wash styles, different cut styles (skinny, straight, bootcut and more), an interior waistband and extended sizing once you're above the toddler sizes. The only reason that Old Navy is my second choice is that their jeans prices tend to be just a little higher than at The Children's Place.

Carter's and OshKosh B'gosh

Sibling brands Carter's and OshKosh B'gosh are well-known for kids jeans, but oddly enough, they don't have quite as much of the selection or features as the previous two stores I mentioned. You have different styles to choose from but not as many as with the previous stores. The waistband is adjustable in most styles.

You do get some choice of denim wash color depending on the style you picked - not all styles are available in all washes. Some styles and washes are available in extended sizes while others aren't. So it's hit-and-miss, but still worth taking a look, especially if you love the trendy brand name factor of OshKosh B'gosh.

Gymboree

Gymboree has a slightly preppy look, so they don't have as many jean options available as the stores mentioned above. On the other hand, you're more likely to find their jeans in stock since it's not the first place people think of when buying kids jeans. Be aware you won't find many style options, wash options and extended sizing here. You do get an inner adjustable waist beyond the toddler sizes, and for toddlers they have an elasticated back. Pricing is also a little higher at Gymboree than for the stores that I mentioned above.

To sum up, Gymboree is more for if you just want a good standard pair of jeans from a good brand, or if you're shopping there anyway for their other gorgeous clothing and want to throw in a pair of jeans. Sizing at Gymboree goes from 12 months to 12 years.

Janie and Jack

Janie and Jack offers a more formal and upscale look than the other stores on this page. They don't have many jean options, but the ones that do are designed to really create a statement and really "make" an outfit.

As far as features go, in most of their jean styles you get an adjustable waist. Sizing ranges from 3 months to 12 years or even older depending on the style. Pricing is among the most expensive of the ones on this page, but still within the bounds of being reasonable. It's likely still cheaper, even at full price, than your own adult jeans are (yes, even if yours are cheap).

Justice

Justice is a trendy brand aimed at tween and teen girls. They have plenty of jean options available for your girl. Many of their girls jeans come in extended sizing (slim/plus) as well as regular sizes. You won't find an adjustable waistband here, but most of their jeans come in a stretch cotton fabric designed to offer the ideal fit. Sizing goes from ages 6 to 20 and in a range of denim washes.

You'll find a lot more in the way of unique detailing, distressed looks, and so on here than in the other stores mentioned above. Pricing is similar to Gymboree - cheaper than Janie and Jack but more expensive than The Children's Place or Carter's.

If you have a girl for whom being on-trend is the number one factor, Justice is the place to shop.
